The auditor, not the vendor.

Paritas exists because companies deserve bias audits from someone who isn't selling them the tool being audited.

WHY WE BUILT PARITAS

The gap in the market

When NYC Local Law 144 went into effect in July 2023, companies using AI hiring tools faced a new requirement: get an independent bias audit, publish the results, and do it annually. The market responded with two options—neither ideal.

On one side, legacy consulting firms with deep HR compliance expertise but no software infrastructure—delivering audits as PDF attachments to email threads, at price points starting at six figures. On the other, a wave of AI-native startups offering "platforms" that happened to also sell the tools being audited, or that treated the audit as a checkbox rather than a meaningful assessment.

Paritas was built to occupy the space between them: the methodological rigor and independence of a research-grade audit, delivered through modern software with transparent methodology, permanent report hosting, and—critically—actionable remediation recommendations that tell you what to do when the numbers come back wrong.

The name "Paritas" comes from the Latin word for equality, fairness, and parity—the core principle behind disparate impact analysis and the four-fifths rule that anchors modern employment discrimination law.
